On This Day in History – April 15

On April 15, 1452 Leonardo da Vinci was born in in the Tuscan hill town of Vinci, in the lower valley of the Arno river in the territory of the Medici-ruled Republic of Florence.

He is most famous for the painting “Mona Lisa.” I’ve heard it’s smaller in-person.

Today is National Burrito Day! I’ve actually never had one. Tacos are great though.

Contrary to popular belief burritos are actually an American food.

Cryptocurrency

This past summer one of my good friends told me about Bitcoin. Think of it as a virtual currency. I wish I had blown my savings and purchased one because back then it was worth about $4,000. Right now it’s worth approximately $11,000. That’s a $7,000 profit! If making passive income is something you’re interested in, but you don’t have thousands of dollars to spare don’t worry. You can buy part of a bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency. If you’re starting out I would say a good minimum is $100 worth.

So far I have some bitcoin, bitcoin cash, litecoin, and bitcoin diamond. The best way to purchase cryptocurrency if you live in the US is Robinhood because they have zero fees. I’ll leave my referral link down below. They’re slowly rolling out a few states at a time. If they’re not available in your state or you live outside the US the second best option is Coinbase. Coinbase is available to people living in 32 countries, including the US, Canada, and the UK.

Personally I think it’s a really good investment, but I decided to get some of my friend’s opinions as well. Here’s what they had to say:

“Cryptocurrency is a tool. A tool can be an investment if treated right, but you shouldn’t buy it specifically as an investment. A good investment should have a 10-15 year track record that shows a steady climb, with few dips. Bitcoin is more like a roller coaster of ups and downs.

Bitcoin is actually a commodity currency. If you use it like currency, the money you make back from saving Bitcoin is considered interest.  People tend to say things like ‘my 1BTC it’s worth X amount of dollars’ That is wrong. Your 1BTC is worth 1BTC. The amount of money it’s worth in, say, USD is the amount your 1BTC is compared to the US dollar, and the exchange rate.”

“As a Canadian, getting cryptocurrency is quite hard and not many stores accept it. But besides that I stand on the fence when it comes to buying and selling or even mining bitcoin, But maybe one day someone will really and fully convince me to invest.”

“Bitcoin. You’ve probably heard that millionaires are being made by it or it’s the biggest sham. In decades. What Bitcoin really is, is a decentralized digital currency not owned or run by any governments. You can buy some Bitcoin here in the US. and send it to Mexico in a few minutes with few being from a few cents to a few dollars. Anyways you can find all about how it works and block chain tech on YouTube.

Point is a bunch of newbies (noobs) are throwing their hard earn money into something they barely understand in hopes of getting out 2x their money in a short time. It is totally possible but very risky as the crypto market is very volatile. My advice is always do your own research, never trust anyone’s opinion blindly . Don’t invest into anything you don’t understand and don’t invest any thing you can’t afford to loose and have fun :)”

So that’s it! What do you think about cyptocurrency? Is it the money of the future?

Dutch Baby Recipe

A Dutch Baby is also known as a German pancake. I found this recipe in a magazine and decided to share it with you all.

Ingredients

2 tbsp unsalted butter
6 large eggs
1 cup milk
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 to 2 tbsp confectioners sugar

Directions

Heat oven to 400. Add butter to a 12 inch cast-iron skillet and place in oven to melt.

Meanwhile, whisk eggs and next 4 ingredients in a large bowl. Carefully remove skillet from oven and swirl so butter coats bottom of pan. Pour in egg mixture and return pan to oven.

Bake 18 to 20 minutes, until puffed and golden. Sprinkle with confectioners’ sugar and serve.

If you make it, tell me how it turned out in the comments.
