Swirls of Life

Life is a swirl…

On This Day in History – July 17

On July 17, 1955 Disneyland aka “The Happiest Place on Earth” was opened by Walt Disney in Anaheim, California.

Have you been to Disneyland or Disney World before? If so what was it like?

Forgiveness Day

Forgiveness should be done throughout the whole year, but celebrating today’s holiday is a good way to start fresh. It’s important to forgive others and even sometimes yourself for past mistakes. “The most important thing that I learned in growing up is that forgiveness is something that, when you do it, you free yourself to move on.” – Tyler Perry

Book of the Month

I’ve decided to replace Movie of the Month with Book of the Month to reflect what I’m currently reading. My goal is to read 40 books this year. So far I’ve read 16 so almost halfway there!

This month’s book is The Set-Apart Woman by Leslie Ludy.

Summary: In The Set-Apart Woman, women of all ages will be encouraged to stay grounded in Jesus amid the many distractions and temptations of their daily lives. Biblical truths will help readers understand what it means to live the consecrated life, set apart for God’s purposes. Readers will apply these truths to practical areas of struggle that women face on a daily basis, such as sinful attitudes and patterns and other hindrances to our souls.

Usually I don’t read non-fiction, but this was a birthday gift from one of my friends. I’ve been procrastinating on reading it because most of my books are from the library and have to be sent back by a certain date or else I’d get fined.

Since I’m currently in chapter 3, I decided to get an opinion from one of my other friends who’s read this book. Here’s what she had to say: “It’s very spiritual and a great book for young woman. It gave me the desire to have a closer relationship with God.”

Rating: TBD (I’ll update it when I finish.)

National Eat Your Vegetables Day

Today is National Eat Your Vegetables Day in the United States. 🥒🍅🥕🥔🍆

Here are some fun facts about vegetables:

  • Tomatoes are very high in the carotenoid Lycopene; eating foods with carotenoids can lower your risk of cancer
  • My favorite vegetable is Corn 🌽
  • California produces almost all of the broccoli sold in the US
  • A ruling by the Supreme Court in 1893 made the tomato a vegetable
  • Potatoes first appeared in Europe in 1586 and made it to North America in 1719
  • Eating carrots can help improve eye health

What’s your favorite vegetable?

P.S. Happy Fathers Day.

The Sims Mobile

One of the apps I play on a regular basics these days is The Sims Mobile. It’s so much better than The Sims Freeplay in my opinion. (But nothing will replace The Sims Social in my heart.) I never really got into it because the graphics didn’t look nice and you have a whole town of Sims to control instead of the 1-4 in Mobile. Below is some of my house.

If you want to add me my friend code is: EFGXK4F.

What games do you play on your phone?
